Apostle JohnThe Gospel of John

...these are written so that you may believe Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and by believing you may have life in His name. (John 20:31)

The overall message of this gospel is that you will be saved through repentance (turning away from disobeying God) and trusting that Jesus Christ fully paid your penalty for breaking God's commands. In many cases John expresses this simply as "believe."

Because John focuses on salvation, his gospel centers on the person and work of Jesus Christ, and in particular the diety of Jesus Christ. He is God, and John provides many proofs.

Three words are used promenently: "sign," "believe," and "life,"reinforcing the message of salvation through Jesus Christ. John records many signs that prove Jesus is God; he calls us to believe in Jesus as our savior; so that we may have life -- eternal life through Christ Jesus.

In addition, John describes how people responded to Jesus' message of redemption and salvation -- they either accept it or reject it. That is the same choice you have.
